A Brief Overview
The Front Desk position is both receptionist and public relations representative for the fitness center, and must exhibit excellent customer service skills at all times, responsible for the member check-in process, point of sale functions, information dissemination and incoming telephone calls.

What you will do 

  • Greets all members with a smile and their name as often as possible.
  • Promotes the philosophy that all individuals entering the center should be treated with respect, kindness, and professionalism.
  • Checks in all members verifying member status with Mindbody Online and Photo ID.
  • Inputs all guests using Mindbody Online. Collects all passes and fees.
  • Carries out all point of sale transactions according to established procedures. Is responsible for cash drawer reconciliation at end of shift.
  • Develops proficiency in the operation of the front desk computer hardware and software, telephone system, and all office equipment.
  • Keeps up to date on all center rules, programs, costs, hours of operation, special events and staffing personnel, and gives out accurate information to all inquiries.
  • Handles incoming telephone calls, takes accurate messages and distributes appropriately.
  • Opens and closes facility as shifts require. Follows all security and safety procedures.
  • Coordinates along with member service and sales staff the procedures for membership inquiries and prospect tracking for both phone and walk in leads.
  • Contributes to team effort by participating in front desk staff meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Education Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required

Experience Qualifications 

  • 1-3 years Two years’ experience in a customer service position with one years’ experience in a health club setting Preferred and

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Typing, Microsoft Office software skills, and office equipment operation skills
  • Must possess excellent public relations skills and communications skills both verbal and written

Licenses and Certifications 

  • BCLS - Basic Life Support American Heart Association within 90 Days Required
  • First Aid Certification AED and First Aid within 90 Days Required
