Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Ambulatory Care

A Brief Overview
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Ambulatory Care is responsible for provision of pharmaceutical and consultative care services for Ambulatory Care Areas.

What you will do

  • Maintains collaborative and comprehensive medication therapy management services in designated areas of service, under a scope of practice agreement
  • Establish and/or participate in a clinical practice by interacting with patients, prescribers, nurses and other healthcare professionals, as a member of an interdisciplinary team in physician practices to provide pharmacotherapeutics recommendations and monitoring for optimal medication use
  • Identify and develop medication use evaluations to develop or update policies to ensure appropriate medication use and regulatory compliance
  • Identify and collaborate on departmental and hospital wide continuous quality and performance improvement projects and initiatives to ensure financial stewardship
  • Provide education for pharmacy staff, pharmacy students, nursing and other healthcare professionals
  • Lead and participate in hospital wide committees and clinical research related to area of practice
  • Serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and pharmacists
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Education Qualifications

  • PhD Doctor of Pharmacy Degree with completion of an accredited PGY-1 Residency Certificate Required


Experience Qualifications

  • Equivalent clinical pharmacy and leadership experience. Required and
  • 1-3 years Minimum of 2 years experience in a hospital pharmacy with Ambulatory Care Required


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Self-Motivation, project management, strong communication,


Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Pharmacist in the State of New Jersey Required
