Registered Dietitian

A Brief Overview Provides consultation in nutritional counseling and dietary management of diabetes and other medical diagnoses requiring dietary interventions.
What you will do
Interviews patients regarding their nutritional health history to determine nutritional plan of care
Evaluates patient’s nutritional status and needs as related to medical diagnosis, history, socioeconomic status, cultural preferences and financial resources
Identifies patient’s dietary needs and develops a written dietary plan of care including short and long term goals
Instructs patients/family/caregivers on implementation of prescribed diet, the preparation and purchase of foods, and menu selection
Completes clinical notes that document patient’s progress and comprehension of nutritional plan of care
Develops appropriate written patient educational material
Interfaces with the physician and other members of the diabetes team and communicates information regarding the patient’s status and reaction to treatment.
Collaborates with the Diabetes Nurse Educator to provide individual and group nutrition education to diabetes clients
Participates in planning and implementing monthly community diabetes education programs
Incorporates the physiological and developmental age of patients into the overall plan for the delivery of patient care
Functions as a consultant to other Community Health and Home Care personnel by providing continuing education as needed
Collaborates with other members of the Education Department to provide educational and corporate wellness programs to the public
Maintains and respects confidentiality
Displays a positive business demeanor
Demonstrates compliance with the Hospital and Department dress code by appearing well groomed, wearing ID badge while on duty and maintaining a professional appearance
Observes hospital policy concerning fire and safety regulations and infection control standards, including annual education requirement
Demonstrates a commitment to work schedule by adhering to attendance standards
Provides proper notification in advance for absence or tardiness
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree majoring in food and nutrition or related fields Required and
Master's Degree majoring in food and nutrition or related fields Preferred
Experience Qualifications
1-3 years Minimum of one year experience in nutrition and/or food service counseling or management Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Good assessment and documentation skills.
Ability to be self directed and work independently
Licenses and Certifications
REG DIET - Dietitian – Registered Registered Dietitian Upon Hire Required
