A Brief Overview
Responsible for the day-to-day coordination and operation of the School of Nursing simulation activities. The Coordinator of Simulation Instruction collaborates with the Holy Name Institute for Simulation Learning (ISL) staff and works closely with School of Nursing faculty and students
What you will do
Implements simulation learning activities to assist in the achievement of program outcomes and course and end of program student learning outcomes.
Schedules and coordinates day-to-day School of Nursing simulation activities in collaboration with the SON Program Coordinator, course facilitators, and the Holy Name Institute for Simulation Learning (ISL).
Communicates effectively (verbal and written) with SON Director, Program Coordinator, faculty, ISL staff, and students.
Collaborates with Program Coordinator, faculty and ISL staff on the development scheduling, and implementation of approved curriculum simulation activities.
Anticipates supplies needed for simulation activities and coordinates with the SON faculty and/or ISL simulation specialists.
Maintains records of simulation activities including but not limited to; title of simulation activity, dates of simulation activities, number of students participating, total hours of each simulation activity, learner contact hours, simulation evaluations, and Video/Confidentiality agreements for students and faculty.
Evaluates students’ performance when referred for prescriptive tutorials and communicates results to referring faculty.
Demonstrates the ability to maintain, operate, and trouble shoot simulation equipment.
Communicates with faculty regarding student safety concerns.
Participates in faculty organization meetings and continuing accreditation activities.
Functions as chair of the Simulation Sub-Committee (sub-committee of Curriculum Committee) holding meetings and documenting meeting minutes.
Stay current with advances in simulation technology and learning theory.
Perform other job related duties as assigned by the School of Nursing Director or Program Coordinator.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree BSN required
Master's Degree MSN required
Experience Qualifications
1-3 years Min of 2 years relevant clinical nursing experience required
Healthcare Simulation preferred preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of current medical-surgical, pediatric, maternal/child, and mental health procedures and current simulation education best practices.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, excellent computer literacy skillsp
Possesses a working knowledge of healthcare simulation equipment including but not limited to; patient simulators, SimPads, simulation software applications)
Licenses and Certifications
BLS-American Heart Association required
