A Brief Overview
Provides Speech/Language Pathology Services pursuant to a referral from a physician to both in patients and outpatients.

What you will do

  • Performs clinical evaluations of patients suspected of having communication or Swallowing Disorders of Children and Adults
  • Designs and provides therapeutic programs that are driven by measurable short and long-term goals
  • Reports patient condition to referring physicians and other members of the healthcare team
  • Properly completes documentation of evaluations, daily visits, progress notes and discharge summaries
  • Assists with Discharge Planning
  • Instructs other healthcare team personnel and family members in methods of assisting the patient in improving speech/language and swallowing abilities
  • Ensures that all patient charges are accurately entered into the computer in a timely manner
  • Maintains equipment used for therapeutic services and uses them in a safe manner
  • Coordinates the schedule of patient treatment with other members of the healthcare team
  • Adheres to all Safety, Fire, Disaster and other emergency policies of the Hospital
  • Maintains statistical reports as requested
  • Presents Inservice lectures a minimum of 1 time per year
  • Assists in marketing and educates other services and health care professionals about the role of Speech Language Pathology and its services



Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in study of Communication Disorders Required and
  • Completion of supervised Clinical Fellowship Year Preferred


Licenses and Certifications

  • ASHA - American Speech Language Hearing Association Certified by American Speech Language Hearing Association. Licensed by State of New Jersey to practice Speech Language Pathology. Upon Hire Required and
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation American Heart Association CPR Upon Hire Required or
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
