Holy Name Medical Center (HNMC) Security Department team providing security services to patients, staff and visitors. In addition, security officers will be knowledgeable of hospital security systems and procedures, local, state, federal guidelines, (related to safety and asset protection) and OSHA, NFPA and JC standards
What you will do
Immediate intervention in any situation posing a substantial threat to the life and safety of any individual on/or in property owned or controlled by the facility i.e. code grey, code red, code blue, patient watches, etc.
Performs vehicle and foot patrol of all Holy Name Medical Center (HNMC) buildings, parking lots and grounds to prevent fires, theft and vandalism. Inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of security
Ensures through visual identification, that only authorized individuals are admitted onto medical center premises. Issues keys to authorized medical center personnel and documents appropriately into log book.
Demonstrate a courteous, professional, understanding and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients, staff, visitors, physicians and others
Escorts staff and visitors to and from parking lot as requested. Assists motorists who require assistance on medical center property and perform errands for various departments as requested and necessary (man-power permitting)
Demonstrate working knowledge of computer based security systems i.e. access control, CCTV, fire systems and investigates incidents reported by hospital staff, visitors, physicians or patients
Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine foot and vehicle patrol. Assists with traffic control by keeping all fire lanes and fire hydrants and ambulance entrances free of vehicles.
Demonstrates compliance with medical center and department’s dress code by appearing well groomed, wearing uniform and ID badge while on duty.
Observes hospital policy concerning fire and safety regulations, infection control standards, smoking restrictions, telephone usage and other rules governing conduct
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent experience is Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge in the areas of safety and security with specific expertise in Healthcare Security is preferred.
Must be capable of the meeting the physical demands (mobility, agility, and the capability to bend, lift and stretch) of the position as it relates to patrolling, dealing with patients during the evacuation process, unruly individuals, assisting patients and others with physical restrictions i.e. wheelchairs, walkers other physical requirements that present themselves.
Licenses and Certifications
DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record Upon Hire Required and
Sora Certification Upon Hire Preferred
