A Brief Overview
Under supervision of professional nursing staff, assists with endoscopy procedures and maintains endoscopy equipment.
Shift: 6:30am-3:00pm - Monday to Friday no weekends or holidays with the flexibility to stay if there is an emergency procedure. (5 shifts biweekly = 40hours per pay period)

What you will do
  • Performs basic patient care procedures as delegated under the direct supervision of the registered nurse.
  • Provides a safe, efficient and supportive environment for the endoscopy patient.
  • Applies the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner to provide optimum patient care.
  • Prepares and knows specific uses of all equipment and supplies used for endoscopy procedures.
  • Differentiates sterilization methods required for specific instruments and equipment. Displays dexterity in the use of required instrumentation.
  • Anticipates the needs of the physician in orders to expedite l the procedure
  • Organizes work by using economy in time, motion and materials.
  • Functions as a role model and resource person for other technical staff.
  • Participates in department activities and committees.
  • Transports or accompanies patients to/from other hospital departments as needed.
  • Demonstrates a flexibility to respond to changing work load to meet patient unit needs, in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Demonstrates understanding of safety practices, emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster plans and procedures.
  • Demonstrates initiative in expanding knowledge of new endoscopy procedures and subjects relating to the endoscopy suite and the endoscopy patient.
  • Observes and adheres to the Patients’ Bill of Rights.
  • Demonstrates fiscal accountability by carefully handling and ordering supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and safe patient environment.
  • Provides a safe environment that reflects the specific needs of the age group of patient populations that are served.
Education Qualifications
  • High School Graduate Required

Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years One year in similar working capacity or previous experience as a PCA Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic patient care skills and basic knowledge of endoscopic procedures and equipment.
