A Brief Overview
The position requires the transport of patients and other persons to and from the Holy Name Medical Center (HNMC) from various locations in the area.
What you will do
- Demonstrate a courteous, professional, understanding and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients, staff, visitors, physicians and others while ensuring confidentiality.
- The ability to comprehend spoken and written English, to communicate with clarity, work independently with non-combative and consistent behavior, good assessment and documentation skills, good technical procedure skills and/or willingness to learn ability to interact with a diverse patient population.
- Provides safe transportation to and from the hospital daily and plans and coordinates travel route to minimize transportation time and client’s length of stay on the van/shuttle advises manager of change.
- Flexibility to perform various additional driving responsibilities including airport runs, driving tasks, and other miscellaneous driving tasks.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety of van/shuttle. Check the various fluid levels in the engine compartment daily and reports vehicle problems to Supervisor, Patient Transport for repair.
- Observes and demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness and medical center policy regarding fire and safety regulations, infection control standards, smoking regulations, telephone usage and other rules governing conduct while at work.
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities, demonstrates consistent reliability/dependability through attendance and punctuality provides services to reflect a commitment to the Holy Name Medical Center Mission and accepts and completes additional responsibilities as directed.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma Or equivalent experience Required
Experience Qualifications
- Prior Driver experience Preferred and
- Experience working with the elderly/disabled also Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Mobility, agility, and the capability to bend, lift minimally and stretch shall be required in order to perform the functions of the position as may be required to assist patients and others with physical restrictions i.e. wheelchairs, walkers etc.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a straight van, a mini-van as well as a mini-bus.
- Bi lingual Spanish preferred.
- A good driving record and no outstanding violations required.
Licenses and Certifications
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Current CDL New Jersey Driver’s License Upon Hire Preferred and
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid NJ Driver’s License Upon Hire Required and
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Driver would be encouraged to obtain his/her CDL Driver’s License within one year from date of hire. within 1 Year Required and
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Driver is encouraged to get AHA CPR Certification within one year from start date. Upon Hire Required and
- MAVT Certification is Upon Hire Preferred
