Manager, HIM Coding

A Brief Overview

Oversees the daily medical records coding operation.


What you will do

  • Identifies and codes patients’ discharge records for the purpose of reimbursement, research and statistics in compliance with federal regulations according to diagnosis, and procedures on all inpatient and outpatient accounts
  • Oversee all aspects of outsourced coding
  • Monitor and asses the DNFB report on a daily basis
  • Review DRG assignment foe selected inpatient accounts, HAC, PSI and Healthgrade target diagnoses for the purpose of reimbursement research and statistics in compliance with federal regulations according to ICD-10 and CPT 4 classification systems
  • Works with CDMP team and assists with coding questions and education
  • Assists with education session for HIM coders


Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related discipline Preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of coding experience Required
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience Preferred


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Coding proficiency inpatient and outpatient (High proficiency)


Licenses and Certifications

  • CCS-Certified Coding Specialist Upon Hire Required or
