A Brief Overview

Coordinate the day to day operations of the Pediatric Inpatient Unit. Assists in the Coordination of the clinical and leadership activities of the Nursing Unit in collaboration with the Director of Nursing. This includes but is not limited to staff development, staff education, policy and procedure creation and supervision of patient care, resolution of patient and family concerns, collaboration and communication with physicians, staff recruitment, retention, and scheduling.


What you will do

  • Ensures that care is delivered in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Care and Practice, the Patient Bill of Rights and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Ensures that care is delivered in accordance with specialty specific standards.
  • Supports the Shared Governance model, facilitates staff participation and facilitates a positive environment for nursing staff
  • Routinely utilizes Evidence Based Practice resources to support clinical and leadership decisions.
  • Models effective leadership skill through role modeling, mentorship and effective communication and development of critical reasoning
  • Identifies staff educational needs and functions as a clinical resource/educator for nursing personnel.
  • Coordinates orientation of nursing employees on specific shift and participates in the preceptorship program.
  • Actively participates in the Performance Improvement process to evaluate the quality of patient care delivered on the unit.
  • Assists Nurse Manager/Director with criteria based performance evaluations and competency assessments.
  • Provides direct care to patients when unit activity indicates.
  • Makes staff assignments appropriately based on patient care needs and competency level of staff and based upon NJ Scope of Practice guidelines.
  • Self motivated to seek educational opportunities to develop ongoing clinical and leadership expertise.
  • Participates in professional organizations, education seminars and projects related to area of expertise.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Graduate of an accredited school of nursing holding current NJ License required
  • Master's Degree preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • 4-6 years Related Clinical experience required

Licenses and Certifications

  • National Certification related to specialty area preferred
