A Brief Overview

Supervises the work activities of Environmental Services personnel to ensure clean, orderly and attractive conditions in the hospital.


What you will do

  • Verbally instructs and trains employees under supervision in the use of cleaning materials and equipment
  • Maintains the highest possible quality standards in the hospital
  • Routinely monitors staff procedures for the use, cleaning and care of equipment. Ensures staff members are compliant
  • Complete and maintain staff records such as Orientation, On-The-Job and Classroom Training Records, ensuring understanding and competency
  • Perform quality assurance reports to assure an acceptable level of cleanliness is maintained and advises appropriate personnel of situations requiring follow-up
  • Assist in special projects and research to update techniques or study cost savings
  • Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the hospital. Recommends painting, improvements and repairs to improve sanitation, appearance and efficiency
  • Communicate, interpret and discuss hospital policies and procedures with employees
  • Conduct timely verbal & written performance evaluations, counseling and disciplinary action on employees when required
  • Ensure proper policy guidelines are followed for disposal of regular, regulated medical and hazardous waste
  • Maintain departmental written records such as daily Supervisory reports, medical waste reports, inventory, key logs and equipment sign-out reports
  • Demonstrates good managerial judgment by conducting aspects of supervision in a fair, firm and consistent manner
  • Operates various types of mechanical cleaning equipment when training employees in such tasks as wall washing, stripping and refinishing floors, extraction of carpets and buffing floors
  • Lifts mattress and mattress springs to perform training on bed cleaning. Transports furniture and equipment as required
  • Extends effective, professional and courteous interpersonal relationships to staff, patients and visitors
  • Frequent contacts are required inside and outside of the department to perform routine services or procedures, give or take routine information or coordinate departmental functions

Education Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree In related field Preferred
  • High School Diploma Or equivalent Required


Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience or three (3) years as a Lead Aide Required


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills (High proficiency)
  • Microsoft or Google Suite skills (Medium proficiency)
  • English and Spanish speaking are preferred
